QCAP Food Microbiology Lab conducts microbiological analyses of food, water and environmental samples.The Lab performs analysis to detect70 species of pathogens transmitted by food and water that cause human health problems.

The Microbiology Lab determines the extent to which the microbial content of all foods conforms to domestic and international standards in order to ascertainthe safety of exported and imported agricultural crops and foods;and ensure that they are free of pathogens.

The Lab aims to safeguard consumer health by ensuring that the food produced, processed, circulated or traded on the market is free of any food poisoningmicrobes to achieve the highest standards of safety and health.

QCAP Microbiology Lab detects pathogenic bacteria and fungi in fresh, dried and frozen vegetables and fruits, meat, fish, poultry, juices, canned food, jams, herbs, grains, spices, etc.

Furthermore, the Lab analyzes mineral and non-mineral natural fresh water,potable water, treated irrigation water and industrial water.

QCAP Microbiology Lab paysregular visits to food processing factories, primary production lines, and fish farms to take air quality samples, swabs from various surfaces, swabs from workers’ hands in manufacturing areas and production farms, and swabs from all food production and handling areas.

The Lab conducts inspection and analysis of agricultural and food samples for export companies, inspection and auditing companies and for the public.

The Microbiology Lab is equipped with the latest devices in the field of molecular biology, including RNA and DNA extraction devices.

QCAPMicrobiology Laboratory is considered one of the first food laboratories in Egypt to be internationally accredited by the Finnish Accreditation Authority FINAS, in detecting hepatitis A virus, to fulfill exporters’ desire to conduct that analysis as one of the most important requirements of importers in Gulf states and Europe.

The Laboratory has also been recently accredited to detect genetically modified (GMO) foods, as well as food fraud and authenticity.

The first government Laboratory to receive the accreditation of the lab’s Laboratory Efficiency Tests Unit for the first time according to ISO 17043.
